Chroniq is technical infrastructure for documenting the history of your intellectual work. This page explains — in plain language — what we record, what we verify, and where our record stops and legal judgment begins.
Chroniq was built on the belief that every meaningful creation deserves a trusted history. Ideas evolve. Software changes. Research advances. Art transforms. Innovation happens through time. Chroniq records that evolution using cryptographic integrity, trusted timestamps, intelligent analysis, and immutable audit trails — giving creators and organizations a reliable chronology of their work.
MISSION · Chroniq enables creators, researchers, inventors, developers, businesses, and institutions to establish trusted digital provenance through cryptographic evidence, intelligent documentation, immutable audit trails, and chronological verification.
Every file you deposit into Chroniq is transformed into a set of independently-verifiable technical records. Together, these form what we call your provenance record.
The moment your file arrives on our servers, we compute a SHA-256 hash from the raw bytes. This produces a unique 64-character fingerprint. Any change — even a single pixel or character — produces a completely different hash. We store the hash; you keep the file.
Immediately after hashing, we bind a UTC timestamp issued by the server clock. This records the exact moment the file existed in its current form. The timestamp is captured before AI analysis or any other processing so external factors cannot influence it.
The tuple {certificate_id · hash · timestamp · creator · project · version} is signed with an HMAC-SHA256 key held only on our servers. The signature is embedded in the Proof Certificate — anyone can verify the certificate has not been tampered with.
Every action on your file — creation, view, version bump, publication, export, verification, comment — is written to an append-only audit log. The log is included in your Evidence Package and shows the full chain of custody.
A tamper-evident PDF certificate is generated for each sealed file. It contains your certificate ID, the SHA-256 hash, the UTC timestamp, a QR code linking to a public verification page, the evidence score, and the version number.
When you upload a revision, Chroniq links it to the previous version. Every version keeps its own hash, timestamp, and certificate, but they share a lineage — showing exactly how your work evolved over time.
In short: Chroniq builds your evidentiary record. Whether that record carries legal weight in a specific matter depends on applicable law and the facts of your case. Chroniq is a tool — not a substitute for a lawyer.
All connections use TLS 1.2+. Uploaded bytes are encrypted at rest with AES-256 in object storage. Certificates and metadata reside in a managed database with encryption-at-rest enabled.
Sessions use HttpOnly, Secure JWT cookies with same-site protection. Programmatic access uses scoped API keys (Authorization: Bearer or X-API-Key).
Files are private by default and only accessible to their owner. You explicitly opt-in when publishing to the community feed or generating a shareable evidence package.
Optional identity verification links your legal identity to your evidence records via a manual admin review. Verified creators receive a badge that appears on public posts and certificates.
Every mutation (upload, version, publish, export, verify, comment) is logged with actor, timestamp, and action. Logs are append-only and included in Evidence Packages.
Evidence records are retained for the lifetime of your account. Identity documents used for verification are purged after review per our retention policy. Snapshots and backups run on a rolling window.
Chroniq provides technical documentation and provenance services. We record cryptographic hashes, trusted timestamps, audit logs, and issue Proof Certificates that anyone can independently verify.
Chroniq does not determine legal ownership, authorship, inventorship, infringement, patent rights, trademark rights, copyright validity, or legal outcomes. The legal significance of any Chroniq record depends upon applicable law and the facts of each matter, and is decided by courts, patent offices, copyright authorities, or other competent bodies — not by Chroniq.
Nothing on this website, in your dashboard, in any Proof Certificate, or in any Evidence Package constitutes legal, patent, tax, or professional advice. If you are involved in — or anticipate — a legal matter, consult a qualified attorney in your jurisdiction.
